Initially a farming community, Danville began to develop as a residential suburb shortly after World War II with construction of the first housing tracts. Its population boomed in the 1970s and 80s. The Iron Horse Regional Trail runs through Danville, an 80-foot-wide corridor of bike and hike trails.
